Think I've talked to you before...have a small file on these WV Nelsons...in 1880 there's an "Eliza" Nelson a male age 55, Nancy 50f, Eliza 18male, Jennetta 15f, Julia 13f, Isabel 10f, Hannon 8m and Dora 4...this is for Kanawha co....Malden.....then in 1900 WV, Kanawha Co., Malden again...your Elisha is in house # 160...next door in 161 is Edward Nelson 57 and wife Catherine 67...then in house # 172...is the old Elijah Nelson 75 married 39 yrs. in NC...wife "Sene" 65...she'd had 8 kids, only 5 living...and Dora age 21 is still there... the age on Dora is off by three years, but still think it's the same family...there are two granddaughters in their family...Ollie born March 1895 and Willie born May 1896....so living that close, I think this old Elijah is your Elisha's father...especially since he had an 18 yr. old "Eliza" son in 1880.....you know they wrote the name wrong....
In 1910 your guy is listed under "Lias" Nelson with "Pline" as his wife....they were still , but in London this time instead of Malden....
From random notes I made years ago, I have a Martin Nelson as brother to this older Elijah Nelson who was supposedly born 1826 in Surry Co., NC...his parents were Thomas Nelson and Clara of Stokes co., NC....I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF of this...and don't even know where I got it........he supposedly came to WV about 1844 with his brother, Martin...that date arrived at due to a court case in Virginia with his brother, Martin.....I do know there is a Martin Nelson in Kanawha co., WV in 1900, appears to be the same person....and he was in the 1880 WV, Kanawah co. census too...still at Malden...
In the 1850 Va. census for Boone co. (later West Va.) there is a John Nelson 37 born NC, Thomas Jr. 30, born NC and Elijah Nelson 24 a boarder with the Stone family...which appears to stay close to these Nelsons all thru the different census...sure it means something......sorry not more help....
