I'm looking for the Knowles family that came from Maine, Massachusettes, New Hampshire, Washington State.
Herber E. Knowles was my great grand father. I know very little about this family except the following. This family came from Maine into Washington State. Herber lived in Minnesota. Married a Catherine (Katie) B. Bridgit. St. Paul Minnesota around the 1890's. This might have been kept a secret as something happened to his wife Katie. I found a Katie B. Knowles who was listed at the mental hospital in Tacoma Washington. I believe this had to do with some form of dementia. They had at least two children: Ellen Dorothy Knowles Kelly Holden McCullough and Syliva Knowles. Family history states the two girls were put into a Catholic convent. Later, Herbert may have married someone else. May have moved to California.
Ellen Knowles lived with her aunt and uncle in Seattle Washington on and off. They were Abner Knowles, Rosalie Knowles, Earl Knowles, Lyle Knowles, Glenell, Doreen, Fordham. They are related to Albert Knowles 1829 Maine, and Alford Knowles 1877 Maine. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
