I noticed the difference in spelling of the last name. I only ask because growing up I always heard the story of the two brother's that wanted to join the service together but could not because they were the last of there clan so one changed the spelling of her name. I was told the correct spelling is Nickelson and the changed spelling was Nicholson. They lost touch during the war and there were wards of the Nicholson was in Virginia. Do you or have you heard of this story before?
