I believe Lela's parents were John C. Northcutt b. 29 July 1850 Talladega Co., AL; d. 17 June 1911 Cherokee Co TX and Sarah 'Sallie' C. Watson b. Nov. 1860; d. April 19, 1901 Cherokee Co TX, both buried Mixon Cemetery. They married 21 Dec. 1876 Cherokee Co., TX.
From "Newspaper Obituaries, Cherokee Co., TX 1910-1922, Book II" (1989) compiled and printed by Helen Wooddell Crawford, p. 19: 6-23-1911: John Northcutt, age 61 years, who lived two and half miles north of Reynolds, was instantly killed Saturday when he went to bring some stock to the house. A mule kicked him with both feet, one hoof struck him over the heart and he died almost instantaneous. Mr. Northcutt's wife died several years ago, and he lived with a son and four daughters. He also had two married daughters and two sons living in Okla. He was interred at Mixon. A sister, Mrs. Pierce, was burned to death at Reynolds two years ago last Christmas."
