Daniel O'Barr and Robert O'Barr, Rev War

Greetings:

To my knowledge, I am unrelated to the O'Barr family, but this is for sharing. My 4great grandfather Reuben Newman (bc 1757VA- 1849SC) served as a private in the 1st NC Continental Line in the Revolutionary War. I have framed under glass a photocopy of the original document from the National Archives of the Muster Roll of Pvt. Reuben Newman's Infantry Company, under the command on Capt. James Read, of date 8 September 1778, at which time the unit was in lower New England.

Also included on this Company Muster Roll in back to back listings were Privates Daniel Morgan and Robert Morgan, noted as "Waggoners", ie, they and two other soldiers served as the "transport" for the Company unit when on the move. Further to this, Daniel O'Barr, Robert O'Barr and my Reuben Newman were early setlers (c1779 in Reuben's case... he was following along after his discharge in 1779, to catch up to his parents, who had relocated from NC while he was in the Army). Reuben Newman arrived in SC in good time to be caught up in the SC Militia forces in the warfare that continued in SC for some time after his arrival.

My 2greatgrandfather Diocletian (DC/Doc)Newman ancestor came to north GA from SC in the mid 1840 decade and settled in Cherokee Co GA, later to live in Carroll Co GA, and died in the 1880 decade in Paulding Co GA.

If this is of interest to any O'Barr descendants, I'll be glad to hear from you via e-mail. My limited research appears to indicate some descendants of the Daniel and Robert O'Barr brothers relocated from NW SC over into NE and north central GA, following the relocation of the Cherokee Indians in the 1840 decade.
