Looking for the sister of Mary Oliver.
I am trying to find what happened to my GGGG Grandmother Elizabeth Smith Bridges Atwell. Elizabeth was born abt 1849, in TN. Her parents are Robert Smith b. 1824-5 and mother Nancy Jane Norman Smith b. 1821 -> both born GA(?)<-
Elizabeth had 2 other known (to me)younger sisters, Franny and Mary, Mary later married Richard Oliver Butler. I believe all three girls were born in TN.
Around 1868-9 Elizabeth married (one of two names) James Daniel Bridges or Daniel (Bridges). They had 3 children together, Elbert abt 1869, Ella abt 1876 & George abt 1878. All Census info shows the children born in TN. The kids are living with their maternal grandparents in the 1880 TN census and Elizabeth is listed as widow. There has never been a connection with Daniel Bridges, other than one family member said her mother said that Elbert shows mother, Elizabeth Smith and Daniel Bridges as father, on his SS application.
Ella is my GGG Grandmother, she married Thomas E. Byrd abt 1894 (can't find hide nor hair of Thomas before 1900).
Sometime after 1880, Elizabeth wanted to remarry, but her fiance' didn't want her children, so she left them with Robert and Nancy to raise. The man was an Atwell. I do not know anything else about him other than, he and Elizabeth had a son, Clay.
Can ANYone help me with this?
