I am trying to find out if Eli J. OLIVER (wife Jane WILSON) of Barton Twp., Gibson County, Indiana, was an older brother or uncle of John Francis Marion (J.F.M.) OLIVER (wife Serena KEYS) of Patoka Twp., Gibson County, which is not far from Barton Twp.
Sources say John Francis Marion OLIVER was born ca. 1827 in Williamson County TN, but there is no information about his parents or siblings. Since his middle name is "Francis Marion" as in the Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion of South Carolina, there may be a SC connection as there is with Jane WILSON OLIVER who was born there.
Also John named one of his sons Leroy Wilson OLIVER, so I wonder if this is because of a connection to the family of Jane WILSON OLIVER.
I am looking at the possibility of a James OLIVER in the Williamson County TN 1820 and 1830 census as being John's father. If so, John would have had two older brothers in the 1820 census, one born ca. 1805-1810 and one born 1810-1820.
Since Eli J. OLIVER's tombstone in Eden Cemetery says he was born 1815, I wonder if he is one of the older brothers. Also, the tombstone says that Eli is the "son of P.J. and J. Oliver". Does anyone know who Eli's parents were?
And does anyone have any information that may link these two OLIVER families together or link Eli J. OLIVER to TN?
