LITCHFIELD NEW-HERALD HUBBARD PARNELL RITES UNION AVE CHURCH Funeral services for Hubbard Parnell, long time resident of Litchfield, who died Sunday, were conducted yesterday at afternoon at the Union Avenue Christian Church. Rev. J. E. Foster was in charge and interment was in Elmwood cemetery. During the services a quartet composed of Clemon Roberts, John Taylor, Albert Ritchie, and C. M. Deprey, sang "Nearer My God To Thee," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Oh Think of the Home Over There." Casket bearers were James Parrott, Sterling Cassity, August Kellenberger, Frank Stuttle, B. F. Maple, and Arthur Huff. In charge of the flowers were Ruby Dively, Ethel Martin, Mrs. Bister, Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Savage and Mrs. Mary Shreves. b. May 7, 1859 Salisbury, rowan, NC d. Parnell Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke Mrs. Schrilda Parnell, 84, widow of Hubbard Parnell, along a resident of Litchfield died this morning at 5:35 o'clock at her home 317 West Ferdon Street. She had been in failing health for the last several _____ and last Sunday was stricken by paralysis. she suffered a stroke Tuesday. She was born in Hornsby Feb. 9, 1861, a daughter of William and Mary Lancaster. Both parents died before she was nine years old and she was reared in the home of her father's sister, Mrs. Cal Drennan at Hornsby. She was united in marriage to Hubbard Parnell at Hornsby in 1882 and soon after the couple located in Litchfield. Mrs. Parnell is survived by seven children: David Parnell, Memphis, Tenn.; Marstan Parnell, Thebes, Ill.; Drennan Parnell, Gilbert Parnell and Rex Parnell of Litchfield; Leota, married and residing in Kenosha, Wis.; and Leo Parnell of Donnellson. Forty-two grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Parnell preceded his wife in death April 24, 1938. A daughter, Mrs. Neva Robbins, died in 1918, a son, Sidney in 1928, a daughter, Mrs. Leeta Taylor died in 1940 and two children died in infancy. A sister, Mrs. Sue Loper survives. She resided with Mrs. Parnell for the last few years. Mrs. Parnell was a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist Church. Rev. W.L. Reppenhagen will be in charge and internment will be in the Kinder Cemetery near Hornsby. The body will be removed from the Carrol funeral home to her late residence Friday evening.
