One of the earliest translations of Hans Andersen was Danish Fairy Legends and Tales, 1846. The translator is known to be Caroline Peachey. My copy has a slip pasted in "With Mary Peachey's love". I have got nowhere with identifying these people, except that a daughter of the 2nd Baron Selsey was the Hon.Caroline Mary Peachey, d.1871. So Caroline and Mary may be the same person. Does anyone know? Notify Administrator about this message?
