Peachey Family Genealogy Forum

A little more info on this family line. The Peachey's lived in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire but probably moved from Cambridgeshire. James Peachey was a groom and married Elizabeth around 1840. They had several children, one of whom was Frederick Peachey (b.1861) who married Alison Shurval from Beaconsfield. They started their family in Askew Road, Shepherd's Bush, W. London and had four children, Helen, Frederick Philip (Phil) Bernard Charles and Dora. The family moved to Hanwell in 1911 and the children attended St Joseph's RC School. Helen married Ken Perrett from Melksham and had two children, Alan and Angela. Phil married Edna in 1934 had one daughter Marion, Bernard married Margaret Patricia (Pat) and had Alison, Dora married Jack Stone and had Jacqueline and Christine. In 1939, when WW11 started, Alison and Fred Peachey moved to Wokingham where Helen was already living and bringing up her family. Bernard and Pat, and Dora and Jack, also settled there while Phil and Edna stayed in the house next door, where they lived until Phil's death in 1995. Their daughter had Philip - one son, (in Florida), Angela - 2 daughters, Matthew - a son and daughter, and Elizabeth - a daughter.
Edna, Phil Peachey Snr's wife, who will be 100 years old (May 08), is the only survivor from the family of that generation and lives in Hillingdon. Only Phil Peachey in Florida amd his son continue the family name in this line.
We are in touch with other Peacheys in Australia who are part of the same family from Chipping Norton. The spellings vary all over the country, due to the illiteracy that was rife at the time. The Peachey (Peechy) name goes back many hundred of years to the Norman Conquest and the name is recorded in Court records with Peacheys being favoured by the Kings of the age. How the mighty hath fallen!!!
