1.2.1.1.3.1.2.3.1 Leroy Bidwell, son of Walter Raleigh (Walter, John Chauncey, John, John, John, John, Robert) and Sophia (Bidwell) Pease; b. Feb 02, 1842 in Enfield, CT; d. Jun 28, 1916 in Utica, NY while attending the session of the state encampment of the G.A.R.; m. 1864, Helen A. Mosley of Southampton, CT. She was the daughter of Samuel S. Mosley. Leroy Pease served in the Civil War for three years, rose to the rank of Colonel, and was wounded three times. He spent several months in Richmond, Virginia as a spy for the Northern Army, the task calling upon him at times to dress in the garb of a woman. In 1860, before the war, he was a printer of the Brookville Advertiser in Rockville Centre, CT, and in 1873, after the war, Pease founded and published the Evening Reporter in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. This was New England’s first one cent daily, and the first to use both the AP and UPI news services. He continued to edit the paper until 1897. During the 1880 census, Leroy and his family were living on Hamlet Avenue in Woonsocket, Providence County, Rhode Island. Helen’s sister Eliza A. Moseley was in the same household. In 1882 at a reporters meeting at the hotel Dorrance in Providence, RI, Pease was elected president of the Rhode Island Press Association. During the 1900 census, Leroy, Helen and their daughter were living on Aspinwell Avenue in Brookline, Norfolk, Massachusetts. About 1904, the family moved to Brooklyn, NY. In 1910, Leroy and Helen were living in their son Arthur’s household on East Thirty-First Street in Ward 32 of Brooklyn, Kings County, NY. Children of Leroy Bidwell and Helen A. In the 1900 census, Arthur and his family were living in Brooklyn, Kings County, NY, and he is working as a printer. In 1910 Arthur is listed as divorced and living with his children and parents on East Thirty-First Street in Ward 32 of Brooklyn, Kings County, NY. Children of Arthur Strong and Florence (Thayer) Pease born in NY:

Arthur was a cost accountant for Packard Motor Co, and lived at 42 Watson St. in Detroit, MI when his WWI draft registration card was filed Jun 05, 1917. He was single, short and slender and had brown eyes and light hair.

Arthur filed his WWI draft registration card Jun 1917 when he was living in Brooklyn and working as a clerk for what appears to be Ovington Brothers. He was described as having a slender build, brown eyes and brown hair.

Lorraine filed his WWI draft registration card when he was living at 258 Northwood Avenue in Plainfield, NJ and working as a carpenter. At that time, he was described as having a medium build, blue eyes and light hair. He was also listed as being mute.
