An interesting biography/family history and portrait of Maj Fellows D. Pease, Indian Agent, are included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 1050 & 1051. Fellows D. Pease was born, 16 Mar 1834, son of Oliver and Emma (Bowen) Pease. Children of Oliver & Emma: Emmer, Ashbel, and Laetus, were Union soldiers who were killed during the Civil War; Walter (Tioga Co., PA); Benjamin (settled in Eastern Washington); Fellows D. (Montana). Fellows Pease grew up in Steuben Co., NY, had a rural school education, and at age 19 went West to IL, WI, MN, IA, and MT. In 1859, near Berthold, ND, Fellows Pease married Margaret Wallace, a half breed Crow, daughter of John Wallace. Pease children: Laetus (died at Seattle, WA, leaving no children); Lavantia (Mrs. John L. Pearson, Absorakee, MT..children: Virgie, Helen, Ethel, Leah); George H. (spent his life on the Crow reservation, and died at the Pease residence in Lodge Grass, in 1916, as a result of an automobile accident. Married Sarah Walker. Children: Nine sons and one daughter.)
