The Saint Charles (Illinois) Review, May 25, 1878
William Peck patronizes Cold Spring Creamery (on the Sycamore road in Campton) to the extent of twenty-eight cows. The farm of 162 acres, has forty in timber, third in corn and the remainder in Oats, orchard and pasturage. There are about fifty hogs and pigs, and seven horses, on the place. Mr. Peck came from Cayuga county, New York, in 1844, with but $300 in money, which was nearly spent in reaching this State. By industry and economy, he has possession free from debt, of the above described property. The family of four children is separated — one is in Kansas, another in Missouri, and others are nearer home. Mr. Peck has been republican in politics "since old Clinton was Governor of New York."
