As a followup, Robert E. Peck wrote to me:
Just to add a bit to what Darrell has said, when Rev. Robert came to Massachusetts, he brought with him only two of his children, Anne, his youngest (aged 19) and Joseph (aged 28). Joseph, it seems, was mentally handicapped and needed the care of his parents. This Joseph clearly had nothing to do with Milford, Conn. How many other children Robert left behind in England we don't know. He was 58 at the time of emigration and it is uncertain how many of his seven other offspring were still alive then. But it not surprising that, as soon as the coast was clear, he chose to return to them and his roots.
