I am wondering if David Peebles became a Captain of his Virginia Militia. He was active in politics in Virginia and was a member of the Vestry. He may have gotten his military introduction in Scotland during the Cromwell Invasion while he was a Merchant in Fife and raising his family, or he did have his own Merchant ship and raised 17 persons to flee with him to Virginia. So many Scots fled to Northern Ireland before coming on to America. This would show
he did have leadership qualities and was a good salesman.
