There are no known military records of David Peibles Pebles Peebles in Scotland or England.

He was appointed a Captain in the Virginia Milita [ Source -
Charles City Order Book ] this was a common rank given to influential people.

Did he own a ship ? Again no known record, he was a merchant who solicited for people to bring to " Virginia to make one plantation thair " [ Source - Extracts-Burgh of Edingurth ] Note copy in Huston Tx. Genealogy Library.
Many records for Capt. David Peebles are in Va. but none mentions being a merchant or ship owner.

He was a Justice of the County Court, a vestryman of Westover Parish, Capt. of the Militia " the area of his charge lying between Powells and Wards Creeks, on the South side James River " and on Feb.4,1656/7 his name was one of four sent to the Governor to be considered for Sherif.

Was he involved with the Cromwell invasion ? Again no know records exist, true he did come to Virginia during that period, but also so did many thousand others.
