I'm afraid I have no info re John Thomas. My interest is through Robert Peebles born 1847 son of Margaret Peebles. Margaret born 1823 was the daughter of Robert Peebles and Helen Walace and she had several brothers - Archibald (born Edinburgh), John, Robert, George all born in Anstruther Wester so perhaps your John is the son of one of them. It might be worth you putting a message on Rootschat for Fife to see if anyone has baptisms for Anstruther.
