William Dorsey Pender - dog tag ?

I have aquired through trade what appears to be the "dog tag"
from Dorsey Pender. It is an 1860 Seated Liberty Silver Dollar,
hand engraved on the obverse : Lt Col Dorsey Pender 1st North
Carolina Regiment, it has a small hole that was probably made
with a floring nail. I have bought the book : One of Lee's Best
Men, hoping it might be referenced in the book, but so far it has
not. Would you have any info on this item that might help me.
