Interesting name William Dorsey Pender. One of my relatives Araunah Pender (1856-1947) named his first born son William Dorsey Pender born after the civil war (1878).
Araunah Pender was the son of Cullen Wright Pender born about 1816.
Some info I have points to Cullen Wright Pender being in the Civil War but I do not have any factual info.
All of my Pender relatives were born in or around Whitakers, NC in Edgecombe county.
