I wish I could give you the complete history of the Pender surname, but I don't know it. I think Pender originated in England, But I know there were Penders from Ireland Scotland and I believe Dutch Penders too. They have decendants in Canada, Austraila, The United States, and many more countries.
My ancesters landed on the east coast, probably North Carolina
in the late 1600's or early 1700's. They have moved all the way to the west coast and back to the midwest in the last two or three hundred years. John Pender was involved in laying the first transatlantic cable in the early 1900's I believe. then there was a general William Dorsey Pender in the war between the states who was quite well known. Some of my Pender ancesters were in the same war but they were not well known.
There is also a small town in West Virginia naned Pender and
an Island in British Columbia named Pender.
Maybe this will give you some Ideas where to look for more information. Good Luck!
