Barbara,
I've been searching the name Pinder for years and there are different spellings of the name. It seems it was Pyndor-Pyndar-Pynder in England. Tymothie Pynder-ar-or b. 1609 in England immigranted to Bermuda in 1635, this is my line that went on to the Bahamas and then the U.S. mainly Florida.
I have seen the same Pinder name spelled Pender in N. Carolina and I know that some Pinders migranted to N. and S. Carolina from the Bahamas.
If your family is in any of these areas, maybe the name could have been Pyndor-ar-er or Pinder.
