Go to www.chinquapenn.com for an update on the history of the Chinqua Penn Plantation, originally owned by Thomas Jefferson Penn, son of Frank Reid Penn. The property was later purchased by Calvin Phelps, founder of the Renegade Tobacco Company of Mocksville, NC, on August 25, 2006. A restoration plan is in progress with photos on the website.
Both Thomas Jefferson Penn and his second wife, Betsy, had first marriages. There are some interesting family connections in the narrative on the website. This fabulous historic home in Reidsville, NC, is a "must-see" for anyone who loves history and beautiful homes with gorgeous gardens.
