This line of Charles Carter Lee, Lucy Penn Taylor, & her father, John Penn, the signer, is my line that I've been working on, and has been fully documented. So funny you should mention this particular one! My great grand aunt, Emma Lee Savage, was married to Col. Thomas Harrison Carter, a direct descendant of Robert (King) Carter. This line is most definitely connected to and documented with the Lees and Penns. Emma's grandfather was Moses Penn Savage and I know who his parents were. I believe I covered a bit of this in my posting on George and Moses Penn from Caroline Co., VA. We have another connection to the Lees through one of my 2d great grandmothers and that is the one I'm working through now. You hit it when you mention all the Georges and Johns, etc. Makes it difficult to determine the exact one but my mother's research was meticulous and well-cited, as was her first cousin's. Combining all theirs with mine, and then cousins closer to my age range has confirmed that earlier research. We continue to learn more as we merge and discard and keep at it. I have forwarded the first two responses you sent me to a Savage cousin in CA who has documented our Savage line through the DNA project, so we know we're on the right track.
