In his native Bavaria, Mr. Peters had worked some at the trade of butcher and upon his arriaval at Madison found employment in that line. He later worked at the same line in Columbus, IN, Chicago, Indianapolis and Brookville, IN and about 1870 obtained employment at Connersville, IN for 2 or 3 years and then he went to Indianapolis and in 1874 started a butcher shop of his own there. While living there, in 1876 he maried and in 1880 he disposed of his interests in Indianapolis and with his family returned to Connersville where on Aug. 7 of that year he stated a butcher shop in West 5th Street and had ever since been engaged in the retail meat trade there.
