I am researching the family and descendants of GEORGE PETERS of London and am seeking to make contact with anyone who is connected for a book I am writing about the family history.
My 6 x great grandfather, George Peters, was born in the 1720s and became a very successful Russia merchant and philanthropist and Director and Governor of the Bank of England. He married Sarah Jager in 1755 and they had 3 children: Sarah, who married firstly George Alexander Irvine in 1782, and married secondly John Campbell in 1791; George, born in 1760 and died in St Petersburg, Russia in 1779; and Henry, born 1762, married Charlotte Mary Morrison in 1784 and died in 1827 having had 11 children all but two of whom married.
Their various partner’s names are: BARCLAY, HOLLAND, RICHARDS, BURTON, CAMPBELL, CATWRIGHT, VENDERDECKE, RUST, DANIELL, TOLLEMACHE and BONHAM.
George Peters is also an ancestor of Camilla Parker-Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall.
