Sorry for the delay. Yes, the file does listed John Posey as Senior. And I do agree with Frederic Saunders who I repect as a gifted genealogist. However in this case the list of some of the buyers of the Estate are:Nancy Posey; Richard Posey; Zepheniah Posey; Ann Posey; Thomas Posey; Thomas Moore; Samuel Moore; and Polly Moore. Of note:Will Book D, page 143, Spartanburg. Will of Thomas Posey, proved 17 April 1848, list the following persons. Polly Posey, Zephaniah Posey, Melissa Posey, Nancy Wofford, Jane Wofford, Jane Cunningham,Zachariah Lunsford, Jeremiah Lunsford, Eliza Lunsford and about 10 slaves. Polly Posey listed as widow, Zepheniah Posey and Zachariah Lunsford as executors. Of interest to you: I e-mailed Joy this same info, my father received an invitation to a family reunion to be held on 22 June 1986 at the Graniteville, SC civic center. The contact person was Mrs Z P Freeman, PO Box 443, Warrenville, SC 29851, I have tried to contact her via mail to no avail, however; the reunion notice came some family history which states, Nehemiah was married to an Indian princess and had the following sons: Nehemiah, Jr of Aikens Co SC who married Miss Friday; Humphrey Posey of Barnwell Co SC as well as Benjamin Posey of Barnwell; William C Posey of SC; Francis Posey of Edgefield who married Mary Overstreet; and Abraham Posey who married Rachel and moved to Columbus, GA. Have you heard this? Also of note: The Carolina Herald and Newsletter, Spring 1994, page 35 had the following inquiry from Mary Hughes Copeland, 208 Janeway, Greenwood, SC 29649:"Will exchange info on Francis Posey d.1788 Edgefield Dist. SC, wife Mildred. Benjamin, s/o Humphrey(1683-1718) and wife Sarah Lemaster, Maryland. Benjamin's son Nehemiah md Anna Trauntham 1767 Orange Co., NC, d. 1819 GA. Nehemiah's son Macajah, wife Drucilla, left SC, grandson Macajah in Pulaski Co., Fl, wife Sarah to Fl 1846" Just found this recently in Tift County, GA Library, Tifton. Have not tried to contact her. The South Carolina Dept of Archives and History list Nehemiah Posey(File# 6050), Account audited from claims growing out of the American Revolution; 1776 or later. http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/search My interest in Nancy Posey and John Posey(Jr) is I believed though can't prove at this time is that the Nancy Posey, widow of Spartanburg is the same Nancy Posey, widow; who participated in the 1821 Georgia Land Lottery. She was a resident of the 15th Land District of Dooly County as was my great, great, great grandfather William Posey(1800-1864)who was a pioneer of Dooly/Lee/Worth Counties, he lived in the 15th District at the same time as Nancy and maybe her son and one of the two children mentioned in the will of John Posey(Jr) Gary Posey Notify Administrator about this message?
