Jonathan, Mrs. Freeman does not provide a source of her information or how my family maybe related to Nehemiah. She does indicated a least two more generations on some families, for example; Nehemiah Posey,Jr who married Miss Friday list two sons Mark Nehemiah Posey and Martin Friday Posey. She list Martin Friday Posey as married 3 times, to ?Cook; Anne Pemberton; and Annie Williams, children of Martin Friday were Preston Arthur Posey(1822-1862), Elias Posey(1854-1930),Martin Friday Posey(1870-1943),and Hiram Posey(1873-1946). Also Francis Posey who married Mary Overstreet had a son named Samuel Posey(1812-1883)married Lucinda Lott; their children are Pickens, Martha, Frances, William, Elbert, and John Martin Posey. She list Abraham Posey who married Rachel had a son named David Marlin Posey who married Mary Ann Browning with son David Perry Mathias Posey(1860-1937). File#1512, contains no other reference to the two children of John Posey(Jr) other than the will. No mention of a guardian or of a disbursement of the Estate to anyone other than debtors and the widow, Nancy. The accounting of the Estate covers a period from 1803-1811. Also no real property is mentioned eventhough farm products are mentioned and a cotton patch not picked is sold. So he either lived on his father's land or rented or lived on in laws property. All that is appraised and sold is household goods, livestock, personal, and working tools. The usage of the term "children" might be argued to imply minors. If Richard and William who were the executors were the two children, they would have mentioned as two sons and not two children. I believe that the John Posey(Jr) who died in 1803 is the same John Posey, the younger who appears on page 185, with two minor children; boy and a girl both under 10 in 1800 census. I do not have access to any Guardian records or letters of Administration for minors in Spartanburg. It is possible that such records exist. Gary Notify Administrator about this message?
