Jon, Would be interested in seeing the transcription of the estate documents, especially because I'm wondering if it really states "Dennis" rather than "Daniel" Posey. An online source has the results of the sale of Nehemiah's property in Aiken in 1843, and the buyers shown only include Martin N Posey, Mark F Posey, and Daniel Posey. While no Dennis is shown, the list of buyers may be incomplete. See books.google.com/books?id=k4PuHP5vbpgC&pg=PA66&lpg=PA66&dq=%22nehemiah+posey%22+friday&source=web&ots=_-ChWD5B3R&sig=uux0ibmN2NM02ZpBVnx1o_qX2Ik#PPA307,M1 (this is page 307 of J S Friday's book "The Genealogy and History of the Friday Families from Switzerland"). The book unfortunately identifies the father of Mark Friday Posey (on page 66) as the Nehemiah Posey who m. Anna Trantham (that couple were NOT of Burckalow Creek near the Fridays), but the quoted document is surely reliable. Daniel's family is found in the 1850 census for Edgefield Co., SC, with an older son Benjamin living next door to him. Daniel named a son Mark Wayne prob after his bro. It seems likely that Daniel's oldest son in the 1840 Edgefield Co. SC census was the William Posey who m. Sarah Hutto and moved to Pike Co., AL by 1850. Hutto is an uncommon name but there were Huttos in Orangeburg/Edgefield bef 1840 that moved to Pike Co., AL by 1840 including Sarah Hutto's father, Jacob Hutto. The 1810 census showing Nehemiah's family indicates only 3 sons at that time - Martin Friday and Mark Nehemiah are clearly the 2 under age 10, with Daniel qualifying as the age 10/16 (age 55 in 1850). I would be interested in learning how a Dennis fits into the family, and his age, since I've no other record of him in the 1840/1850 period. Jonathan. Notify Administrator about this message?
