I believe you will find that Jeremiah's father was William C. Posey, and William's parents were Nehemiah Posey Jr, born 1776, and Elizabeth Hendle.

I can't prove that myself, but you can find a lot of info in this forum. I suggest you look at this post

There were a whole lot of posts about this family a few years ago, with several descendants of John Wesley Posey, Jeremiah's brother.

Roberta McKenzie, a great researcher and friend of mine, who died several years ago, went searching in Nacogdoches County, Texas, and the marriage record she found on Jeremiah had Benjamin Posey's name written on the back. That threw her off for a few years, as Jeremiah and Benjamin were not related. Benjamin was my ancestor.
