Adrian Daily Telegram, Friday, March 8, 2008, pg 2A Randall S. ‘Randy’ Robertson Obit ADRIAN — Randall S. “Randy” Robertson, age 84, of Adrian, formerly of Saginaw, beloved father, grandfather and brother, passed away early Thursday, March 6, 2008. Randy Robertson was born on October 6, 1923, in Tango, W.V., (near Charleston) and moved to Michigan when he was 9 years old. He graduated from Gladwin High School in 1941 and served three years in World War II with the 984th Military Police Company, 8th Air Force, European Theater of Operations (Northern Ireland and England). He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1949 with a BS in psychology and married Joanne Ellis on Aug. 12, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1992. Randy worked for Saginaw Steering Gear (Delphi) as the salaried personnel administrator for 33 years, retiring in 1983. His children are Marcia (William) Wright of Adrian, Mich., Linda (Steven) Coen of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Amy (Daniel) Miller of Morenci, Mich. Grandchildren include Zachary and Jennifer Compton, a stepgrandson, Aaron Wright; Mackenzie and Jonathan Coen, Riley and Dillon Miller. His parents preceded him in death as did a sister, Norma Wagner. He has a brother, James Robertson of Gladwin, and a sister, Roberta Bailer of Birch Run. Randy served on the Central Michigan University Alumni Board of Directors and Development Board, received the Central Michigan University Service Award in 1978, and was a 25-year member of Riverside Kiwanis where he also served on the board of directors, was Chairman of the Youth Services Committee for many years, and was named Kiwanian of the Year three times. He volunteered in his community at Saginaw Covenant Hospital, the Blood Center, and was an active member of the Methodist Church, most recently at First United Methodist Church. He loved the Children’s Zoo, volunteering many hours painting and landscaping the grounds. His love of culture in the community included support to many of the arts groups, including the Temple Restoration project and the Saginaw Choral Society through which he established a memorial scholarship in honor of his wife. During his lifetime he traveled to five continents and 30 countries, capturing many of these locations with photography that decorated his home. He had a keen interest in politics, was a Master Gardener, and loved the Detroit Tigers. Funeral service will take place 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot Road, Saginaw. The Rev. Kathryn S. Snedeker will officiate. Private committal services will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and then at the church on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
