I've been going crazy trying to find the parents of Polly C. Hall. She appears in the 1880 census as an 8 year old niece of Thomas Hall. When the wife of Thomas Hall died he lived with his mother 'Polly Mary Clampit Hall'.
Nathan and Polly (Clampit) Hall were early settlers in Elk Prairie Illinois. Nathan died in 1860. At the start of the Civil war, 4 sons left for the army. The 1850, 1860, 1870 Census shows 4 sons, William, Isaac, Thomas, and John but in 1880 I can only find William, Isaac and Thomas. John is not there but Polly is. Polly C. Hall married James Robinson. They lived in Sesser Illinois and had 9 children: Joseph, Raleigh, George, Sarah, Edith, Elsie, James, Golie and Ruth. I know where she went but can't find where she came from. Grrr!!
