John Robinson, b ca 1778 in Virginia, d 7/31/1869 in White County, Tennessee, married Susannah Childress. Family tradition says that he was the son of John and Gertrude (Van Lear) Robinson, however the will of the elder John does not mention a son John.
Some have said that our John's full name was John William, however the 'William' mentioned in the will of the elder John died in 1816 in Kentucky.
There must be some connection, otherwise why would my g-g-g-grandmother, Elizabeth Robinson Gracy, have remembered John and Gertrude? However I have not been able to make a clean connection between our John and John and Gertrude.
