Searching for the family of
Edward Rooney
born June 1846 or 1847 in Ireland
immigrated c1866
married 1870 or 1871 to
Ann Kerrigan
born May 1838 or May 1840 Ireland
immigrated before 1860
Per the 1880 and 1900 census Edward Rooney and his wife Ann Kerrigan are found living in Manhattan at 756 10th Ave. in 1880 and at 443 West 49th St. in 1900 with the following three children:
Dennis Rooney born Jan 1871 NY
Edward Rooney Jr. born Dec 1873 NY
John Rooney born Dec 1877 NY
Ann Kerrigan is believed to be the daughter of William and Sarah Kerrigan; siblings Ellen and Catherine aka Katherine or Kate. Ellen Kerrigan known to have married Denis Shanahan on 4 Jan 1861 at St. Brigid's Catholic Church (119 Ave B).
No further census records for this ROONEY family have been found in Manhattan other than one Social Security record for a John Rooney born 10 Dec 1877 died Oct 1963.
If you know anything of the Rooney or Kerrigan family from Manhattan or any Rooney's from St. Brigid's I'd appreciate any hints or clues!
