On January 1, 1657, Englishmen who had settled in the Dutch claimed territory known as Oostdorp/East Town (Westchester to the English) were required to sign an oath of fidelity to the government of New Netherlands in order to stay on the land. Two of the men who signed were John Cloes/Rose/Roes and Robert Roes/Rose; various interpretations of their surnames. I would like to know who these men were. Notify Administrator about this message?
