Michele....Didn't know if you had seen this census or not. A nice volunteer did the lookup and just sent it to me.

Go to www.familysearch and enter the name: Joachim Alphred Rose, birth year 1838 and Canada for country. This sure sounds like your Joachim's family and his length of marriage even fits. Click on everything...wonderful information there. If in fact this is your Joachim, there's Rose family info back to the 1600's!!!
