There is a Civil War PENSION file, which can be cited as:
JOHN ROSE, alias CHRISTOPHER ROSE. widow Nannie E. Co. G 23 Wisc. Inf. and Co. H 1 Minn. H. Art. invalid filed 1890, appl 942267, cert. 685122, Minn. widow filed 1905, appl 829405, Minn.

I do not have the details from it, but the file should be illuminating. The above would indicate that it is indeed the same person.
