William and Martha Ross are in the 1850 census of Jackson Co Oh (Franklin twp). William is age 45, b Ohio; Martha is age 44, born Ohio. They have: Charlotte, age 18; Ruth J, age 16; Elizabeth, age 15; Mahala, age 13; Mary, age 7; Joseph age 6; Eliza, age 3. Perhaps this is the same couple in 1840 in Scioto twp? By 1860 Martha Ross is head of household in Scioto Co., Portsmouth Oh. Daus Mary and Eliza are still in her household plus two apparent grandchildren: Margaret J, age 3; William, age 1.
I have suspected the above William Ross is a son of Joseph W. Ross of Gallia and Jackson Co, but have not been able to find a documented list of Joseph W Ross's children.
