Hello Peter,
Don't know if you'd be interested in my family for your study; the name is Rusheon (pronounced Rushen), but it is an assumed name by my paternal grandfather, a fugitive from the law in 1896. There is a fascinating story and a killing behind the name change. My grandfather fled to MS and there assumed the name; settling later in Louisiana. I have been researching trying to find the origin of this surname, and I think Rushen may be it, but I have yet to discover people with this name in the county he fled to, Jefferson Co. MS.
BTW, I am the administrator for a Y-DNA project for my original surname, Busby.
Wayne Busbice
