I have been looking at the early census records again and this is info that I have accumulated for what I believe is James Floyd, s/o of Frederick (b.1765/1774 - d.bef 1820). 1800 SC(Kingston) James FLOYD m (< 10) w/Frederick 1810 SC(Horry) p144 James FLOYD m (16-26) w/Frederick Sr. 1820 SC(Horry) p134 James FLOYD m (26-45) s/o Frederick f (16-26) f (< 10) 1830 SC(Horry) p260 James FLOYD m (30-40) f (30-40) f (10-15) f (5-10) f (5-10) f (< 5) f (< 5) 1840 MS(Simpson) 221 James FLOYD m (40-50) f (30-40) f (15-20) f (15-20) f (10-15) m (< 5) The age of wife and young son appears to be a 2nd wife. 1f (20-25) and 1f (15-20) are not located/identified. 1850 MS (Simpson) Margaret Patterson 28 f SC, w/o Jackson Patterson 30 m GA Patience Runnels 26 f SC, w/o Elias Runnels 29 m MS Mary Floyd 22 f SC, in HH/o Patience and Elias Runnels 1850 MS(Smith) p362 Gideon ROYALS 65 m MS Alice Royals 45 f NC Fred Floyd 10 m ?C Samuel Floyd 8 m MS For several reasons I am fairly certain that Margaret, Patience and Mary are sisters and suspected that they were daus/o James but I was told that James' family moved to north MS. I had the listing for Fred and Samuel with Gideon Royals but had no idea who they were. Then I realized that Gideon Royals was in Simpson Co in 1840 with a wife of a different age and a different family. By 1850 he was next door in Smith Co where descendants of Cornelius Floyd show up. I FINALLY realized that Alice Royals and Fred Floyd fit James' family of 1840 as do the 3 Floyd girls. This means that James most likely died in Simpson Co 1840-1849. By 1860 Gideon's household is intact, Patience & Elias Runnells are still in Simpson Co, Mary is not located until 1870 in Covington Co MS and Margaret Patterson is deceased. Her daughter, Margaret Patterson age 5, is in the HH of my Samuel & Avy Floyd in Simpson Co. I really do believe this all "works". What do you think? Martha Notify Administrator about this message?
