I recently made a trip to Cedar Swamp UMC cemetery in Williamsburg Co., SC, and found graves of Scott, McGill, and other associated family members - none of them directly related to me. John Ervin Scott is the son of John Scott, Sr. and his second wife Rebecca (Ervin Gordon??) I am directly related to John Scott, Sr. (through his son, John Thomas Scott), and his unknown first wife. However, I am trying to compile a decent genealogy on this family, and therefore am seeking and collecting info on John Ervin Scott and his family. John Ervin Scott's first wife was Mary Ann. Her tombstone at Cedar Swamp UMC shows "Erected in Memory of Mary Ann McCrea, wife of John E. Scott, who was born April 28th 1825, And died September 20th 1866". Another tombstone at the same cemetery - "Thomas McCrea (Scott - my notation), son of, J.E. and Mary Gordon Scott, May 18, 1853, Oct. 4, 1918". Boddie, in his "History of Williamsburg", refers to Mary Ann as Mary Gordon. If anyone is familiar with this family, can you tell me what Mary Ann's full name is? Thanks for your help.
