SOMERVILLE'S : ENG; SCOT; > IRE; 1600+

Does anyone know about the English and Scottish SOMERVILLE'S who may have settled in Ireland during the "Plantation of The Ulster" in the 17th century ?

Apparently there was a Robert SOMERVILLE who was a tenant on the "Balfour Estate" in 1619; and a

James SOMERVILLE who was a tenant on the "Derrygonnelly Estate". His son, James, married Anna Catharina, widow of Lewis HAMILTON. Their home was at Tullykelter on the HAMILTON estate and their son, Thomas SOMERVILLE, later went on to become Lord Mayor of Dublin.

Anna Catharina was apparently a Swedish lady and the HAMILTON'S were supposedly a very wealthy and influential family.

Is anyone able to elaborate further on the HAMILTON and SOMERVILLE family line/connection in Ireland ?

Much appreciated.

Cheers !

A belated Happy St. Patrick's Day to all !
