Does anyone recognize this Thomas Soule - it petition for land in Ontario in 1806, though it appears that he was unsuccesful. UPPER CANADA LAND PETITION OF THOMAS SOULE – BAY OF QUINTY To his Honor Alexander Grant Esquire President Administering the Government of the Province of Upper Canada. The Humble petition of Thomas Soule now of the Bay of Quinty Yeoman. Humbly Sheweth That your Honor’s petitioner entered into his Majesty’s service in the Kings American Regiment commonly called Fannings Regiment in the year 1776 and continued in the same as a Sergeant until discharged in the year 1783 at New Brunswick. That your Petitioner received seven wounds in an Action at Rhode Island in which General Prescott commended his Majesty’s forces. That your Petitioner has since having been discharged from the Army remained in the Provinces of New Brunswick and Lower Canada until two or three years ago when your Petitioner came into this Province. That your Honor’s Petitioner has a family consisting of a Wife, five sons grown up and three daughters, and as your Petitioner or family never received any Grant of Lands your Petitioner therefore humbly prays that your Honor will take his case into consideration and Grant him such portion of Lands as may secure to him a home and the means of subsistence in his old age and infirmities. And your Petitioner Will ever Pray Thomas Soule of Ernesttown York 9 th April 1806 Notify Administrator about this message?
