Hi Kim-- In the will of Carter Langley about 1823 he listed several people who owed him money. One of those men was my gggrandfather Bird Street. This was in Greenville SC. Bird had gone from there and was in Warren Co. TN. by this time.There are those who claim Bird married Anne Langley the dau, of Carter. There are others of the Lister family who say that Ann Langley lived with her sister Ester who married a man named Lister. Suppoedly she lived with them many years and is listed with them in the census even after Bird Street had died in 1855. His first wife supposedly died ca. 1843 and he married a Betsy Wilkinson Sammons So it does not appear that Bird's first wife was Anne Langley. I asked the author of a book who started this rumor for documentation of Bird marrying Anne and he replied "I don't know, I found it someplace". That leaves a lot to be desired as far as I am concerned. So, if anyone out there has proof that Bird Married Anne Langley, please come out with it --Jack Street jazbojack@ruraltowns.net
