Frank - Thank you for your response. We do, indeed, need to share information. There is definitely some confusion on which John, and which Joseph we are talking about. I have the following:
John Strickler (my ancestor) b. 04 Dec 1808 Rockingham, VA, dod.27 Feb 1887 (See "Gravestone Art - by Carol Swinehart for the Fairfield County Historical Society- he was a stone cutter/tombstone carver as were most of his sons)in Walnut Twp., Pleasantville, Fairfield, Ohio. He married on 01 Oct 1829 to Catherine McNamee b. 27 Mar 1804.
His known children (I have substantial census documentation to support these census facts from 1850 and beyond for their various extended families) are:
1. Lewis M. Strickler b. 04 Nov 1830 d. 04 Apr 1894 - he married Margaret E. Nichols on 09 Jul 1859 and they had nine children, as follows:
2. Adam M. Strickler b.08 Jun 1833 d. unk at this time, he married Lydia Stemen Friesner (widow of Benjamin Friesner)
3. Joseph James Strickler b. Abt. 1835 in Fairfield Co., Ohio, exact dod not yet proven but Bef. Jun 1900 (census records Fairfield County, Ohio - he is found in 1880 census Fairfield Co, but only his wife, Margaret, is widow in 1900 census), he married Margaret Fitter 09 Aug 1855 in Fairfield County, Ohio - (have source citation to support this marriage data),their known children are:
John M. b.Abt. 1856; Mary A. b.Abt. 1858;Henry b.Abt. 1862;Clara b.Abt. 1869; and Charles b.Abt. 1873.(They are found on census records in Fairfield County, Ohio - very clearly NOT Columbiana County, Ohio as you stated in your messge)
4. Catherine b.Dec 1836 dod bet1900-1910 who md. Henry Swarner.
5. John M. Strickler b.Aug 1838, died 1904, md. Rosannah Kuhn Kihn, and they had two children Mary Catherine and George F.
6. Elizabeth b.1840 died 1842
7. Now, John and Catherine McNamee Strickler also had a son William B. (Baker) Strickler b. 29 May 1842 md. to Mary Louise Foutch and they had a son Joseph L. Strickler b.19 Dec 1872 who married Marcella(Tot) Huddelson about 1900 in Burlington, Kansas, and Joseph and his family lived in or near Cherryvale Kansas (there are census records to support this clear up through 1930).
8. Daniel K. Strickler b.08 Oct 1844 dod 16 Oct 1919 who mad. Julia Rebecca Troxel. This is my ggrandfather.
9. Job McNamee Strickler 10 Oct 1847 d. 23 Jun 1920 who md. Sarah Eddington.

I realize there are several other John and Joseph Strickler families, and YES there definitely was a John and/or Joseph Strickler who did live in FAIRFIELD TWP., COLUMBIANA County, Ohio, but they are definitely NOT the same people as in PLEASANT TWP.,FAIRFIELD County,Ohio. You can easily see from this, that some people might be confused by the names of these two separate locations.

There appear to be conflicting gedcom data floating around in cyber-space that is VERY confusing to the uninitiated. If some of us work together to sort out all of the various disputed names, dates, marriages, etc., I do believe we can come to a reasonable conclusion about which families are which. I appreciate all your work and have enjoyed reading your numerous postings. Look forward to hearing from you.
