///////////// and thanks to Lana Shipley Carter we have the following.

Note; This has to do with the Shipley blood line... It seems several are trying to get beyond Eli & Elizabeth (Kingston) Shipley. The following was posted by a Marilyn Roth on the Shipley board September 19, 2005. I will post and see if she is still living. Any way this Post had to do with the Book "Coonskin Caps and Buckskin Britches" ___ Jim

From a family Tree post by a Marilyn Roth Sorry, the authors of Shipleys of Md, 1968 & 2002, still don't know. This is what they have for Eli SHIPLEY (11 Apr. 1754, MD - 13 May 1821, Hemlock, Sullivan Co., TN; bu. Shipley Cem., now in Warrior's Path State Park, TN) m. 16 F 1782, Bel Air, Harford Co., MD, Elizabeth KINGSTON (15 Oct. 1756 - 10 Jan.or Je. 1847, Hemlock, TN). Eli, son of an unknown SHIPLEY [possibly s/o Benjamin & Kitty], moved to North Carolina before 1793. SHIPLEY families were recorded in various records of Washington & Sullivan Districts, NC, as early as 1780. They lived on both sides of the Holston River, which divided Washington & Sullivan Cos. These were part of North Carolina until 1796. Information was given by Bess Howard, Fredk., MD; Sarah Robison Coker, Evergreen, AL; Betty G. Shipley, Cookeville, TN; & Quentin Marsden Alexander, Danville, CA.

Eli SHIPLEY had

Benjamin (ca. 1786, MD - 15 Jan. 1855, Sullivan Co., TN) m. in Scott Co., VA, by 1805, Catherine WELLS (ca. 1787/8 - 1865, Sullivan Co., TN).

Joshua (23 Mar. 1793, NC - 21 Oct. 1860, Sullivan Co., TN) m. by 1815, Mary STRICKLER (20 Apr. 1790 - 8 D 1879, Sullivan Co., TN).

Richard, b. 1794, NC, m. Sarah

Eli(as) (1796, Sullivan Co., TN - 10 Aug. 1852, Limestone Co., AL) m. 28 Mar. 1824, Jeffn. co., AL, Jane McCLURE

Adam (1798 - before 1880) m. Ellen

Caleb (1799 - 20 Oct. 1861, Sullivan or Hawkins Co., TN) m1. Eliz. Galloway; m2. 27 N 1855, Scott Co., VA, Sarah Ramey AGNER.

The 1968 version had the information you posted about Benjamin SHIPLEY. It lists the children of Nathan SHIPLEY (by 1770 - ca. 1840) & Eliz. BROWN.

Rebecca, b. ca. 1794, m. 10 May 1812, Jacob BILLINGSLEY

Nancy, b. ca. 1796, m. 25 Dec. 1817, Geo. HALE

Enoch T. (1798 - 1844, Greensboro, NC) m1. 1 July 1819, Eliz. HOSS; m2. Catherine BROWN, widow of a cousin.

Elijah, m. 12 Apr. 1825, Nancy HUNT

Mary, m. 19 Jan. 1834, John GRESHAM

possibly Nathan, who m. 30 D 1826, Hannah MILLER.

So, you have Elijah, s/o Nathan, probably son of Benjamin SHIPLEY. Find the missing links!
