Strickler Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Geri,
There has never been any evidence that Mary Strickler was Mary Biedler. In fact all evidence points contrary. The whole problem begins with Harry Strickler's Fancy, which is my title for his book Forerunners. His book has been the source of more rumor and speculation than any book since the discovery of the Gnostic gospels of the 4th century. Harry's whole reasoning was that since Abraham Bielder witnessed some obscure document then he must be a brother of Benjamin's wife Mary. That was his logic for everything. Sometimes he was right but it was by coincidence only. Daniel Bly is one of the leading researchers of Funk genealogy in the Valley. He is well educated, well versed in German and usually very thoroughly researched. Since I know his work is 95% direct source work his work reaffirms the work I have seen in the Funk Histories and to me is far more reliable than Harry Strickler. I've probably not answered your question as directly as you may have hoped. If I ever do get back to Hagerstown with time to spare I will look upon Jacob Funk's will first hand myself but until then the quality of the research and the character of the researchers mentioned is ample for me to accept Mary as Mary Funk.
Hope I've helped some???!!!
