Hi Caroline, I appreciate your willingness to contribute for the clean-up of a cemetery you have never seen and may not have ancestors buried in. I am working with the owners of Strickler Spring and talking with my lawyer friend about establishing a trust to clean up the Strickler cemeteries here in VA and in Parke Co., IN. None of the three are in very good condition. At this time I don't want to handle money until I have an account set up and someone who will agree to keept rack of it. I will place your name on my list of interested people and contact you once we move forward. If there is anyway I can help you out let me know. The Stricklers moved to Parke Co., IN 1842 after Jacob purchased land there in 1841. The built a church in 1852 across the road from the Strickler fmaily cem. (misidentified by the Parke Co. Historical Society as Pleasant Grove Cemetery). Pleasant Grove was located about a mile north of the Strickler church called Providence. Pleasant Grove did not have a cemetery. One of Jacob's sons Daniel married Martha Swaim. One of his daughters married Samuel Martin Teague. I'm not aware of any of the other surnames you mentioned closely associated with the family in Parke Co. I am aware of the database you mentioned and I can verify that it is riddled with errors (not that my work is the mark of perfection either :) ). If you would like pictures from the cemetery and a plot map made of it in the 1930's I will e-mail them to you. I'd just need to find the scanned images of them. I'm leaving in two days for of all places Parke Co., IN. I will be back August 24th. So if I forget to e-mail the pics to you before I leave, remind me after Aug 24th to get them to you. I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors. Frank Notify Administrator about this message?
