Recently while researching the family of Charles Cushing Hills b. 26 July 1856 & d. 23 November 1924. I found that he married 1st Adaline Strong b. 16 April 1861 & d. before 1900. Adaline is the daughter of Jeremiah Wolcott Strong (b. 3 July 1813 & d. 28 February 1886.) Jeremiah is the son of Isreal Strong & Elizabeth Brainard and the grandson of Charles Strong and Desire Lyman (all of the Bolton, CT area). Information is correct that Jeremiah married (28 September 1841 in East Hartford, CT) Adeline Roberts (b. between 1814-1816) and died February 1895, not in 1880 as that genealogy states. This can be proven by a couple of factors...An obituary in the Hartford Courant dated 25 February 1895 and city directories which state in 1888 City Directory for Manchester, CT...Page 102...STRONG, J. W. Mrs., widow, bds (boards) C. C.(Charles Cushing) Hills, Hockanum and the 1891 City Directory for Manchester, CT...Page 109 which states...STRONG, Adaline, Mrs., widow, h. (house), Hillstown Road, Hockanum. It is quite clear that Mrs. Jeremiah W.(Adeline) Strong obviously didn't die in 1880.
