searching for great grandfather John Strong from/Texas.

I am looking for information about John Strong who was born about1846. I think he was from Baden Germany. I have been told by my mother that he changed his name to John Strong. He married Mary Ann Elizabeth McDonald in 1866 on Jan 11 in Gillespi Co. Texas. They had two children, Ann M. Strong in 1867 and Samantha Melvina Strong in 1868. It is believed he died in 1870 or71. Samantha Melvina Strong Taylor was my mother's mother.
