My grandmother was BEULAH STROTHER (b. abt 1903) was from DIAMOND HILL, ABBEVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA. She left there around 1918-19 and moved to Washington, DC. Her mother was ANNA STROTHER (b. abt. 1865). The last records that I can find on the rest of my grandmother's birth family is the 1920 US Census for Abbeville County. There, ANNA STROTHER is listed with her children WALTER (b. 6/4/1896), BESSY LEE (b. 1904), GRANT (b. 1910), DAVID (b. 1915), THOMAS B. (b. 1917) and WILLIAM (b. 1919). After 1920, they all just seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth! You would think that, with this many family members, SOME ONE should have some descendants other than my grandmother BEULAH! The family is of African-American descent.
My grandmother, BEULAH (now deceased), had two children, my father EARL STANLEY BOLDEN (b. 1919) and DOROTHY BOLDEN (b. 1920) in Washington, DC with EARL STANLEY BOLDEN, SR. My father's sister, DOROTHY, had at least two children, BERNARD WRAN (b. 1938 - dec.) & DELORES WRAN.
If anyone has any information about the STROTHERS of DIAMOND HILL, ABBEVILLE COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. I have exhausted all available resources, other than a personal trip to ABBEVILLE. However, I don't want to go there if the family moved between 1920 and 1930. I'm more concerned that they may have all perished in some catastrophe.
